| The
Canyon is one of the most staggering sights in Africa(second in
size to the Grand Canyon of America). We set up camp near the
canyon and explore the area in the late afternoon and early
morning when the colours and shadows of the Canyon are at it's
best.
DAY
8/9: SESRIEM/ SOSSUSVLEI - NAMIB DESERT
The
Namib Desert is a great wilderness, a vast solitary place, harsh
and utterly primeval, the oldest desert on the earth. The
gigantic 275m high red and grey dunes are the highest in the
world.
DAY
10: WINDHOEK
Windhoek,
with its novel scenery of German architecture, activities and
atmosphere is a city which can be visited throughout the year.
DAY
11: SPITZKOPPE
The
extraordinary Spitzkoppe (1829m) dominates the plains like rock
islands looming out of a dried up sea. We undertake walks from
our bush camp.
DAY
12: SWAKOPMUND
Swakopmund
with its German colonial atmosphere is the principal resort of
Namibia. This charming town is surrounded by the Namib Desert.
Accommodation in Bungalows (excludes lunch and dinner).
DAY
13: SEAL COLONY - CAPE CROSS - WELWITCHIAS - TWYFELFONTEIN
The
large colony of Cape fur seals (about 50 000) at Cape Cross is a
very impressive sight. The Welwitschia is an unusual
pre-historic plant which is a dwarf like tree flourishing on the
moisture of the Atlantic Coast. Its lifespan is estimated at
more than 1 000 years. Twyfelfontein "Fountain of
Doubt" possibly has the most spectacular collection of rock
paintings and engravings in Africa. Other attractions include
the Petrified Forest which has a large number of fossilized tree
trunks, the Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes.
DAY
14/15/16: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
This
park is one of the most important reserves and game sanctuaries
in Africa. The pan itself is a vast shallow vast shallow
depression 139km by 50km. It is a ghostly white lake, dazzling
with heat waves and mirages for most of the year. Thousands of
wild animals such as blue wildebeest, springbok, zebra, kudu,
giraffe, cheetah. leopard, lion, elephant, etc. are attracted to
the area. The birdlife is prolific with 326 recorded species. We
relax around the swimming pool and enjoy early morning and
afternoon game drives.

17: OKAVANGO - POPA FALLS
Numerous
African villages are established on the banks of the river. The
pleasant rest camp of Popa Falls is situated on the banks of the
Okavango.
DAY
18: CAPRIVI
Travelling
through the Caprivi game park, we reach the town of Katima
Mulilo, which is the most important town in the Caprivi.
DAY
19: CHOBE RIVER - BOTSWANA
After
crossing the Chobe River at the Ngoma Bridge, we enter the Chobe
National Park which is famous for it's beautiful sunsets. We
enjoy a gameviewing cruise on the Chobe River, where we may
watch large herds of elephants drinking from the river.
DAY
20/21: VICTORIA FALLS
The
Victoria Falls are without doubt one of the greatest and most
unforgettable scenic spectacles, where the waters of the Zambezi
River tumble down in continuous thunder. Day at leisure.
DAY
22: VICTORIA FALLS/LIVINGSTONE
Transfer
to Livingstone Airport or Air Zimbabwe office in Victoria Falls.
An airport shuttle bus is available between the Air Zimbabwe
office and Victoria Falls airport (at your own expense).
The
itinerary will depend on local conditions.
